In fact, a lot of the time it’s actually easier to avoid, dismiss, minimize, or straight up pretend that all is good when it’s not. .. Vulnerability is confronting. It shakes us up and puts so many of our greatest fears right in front of us. Why not avoid that at all costs? .. Here’s the thing...We never get to the other side when we avoid. We just don’t. We must always go through... we must always go inwards to learn, grow, and transform. . .. The work isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. It’s SO worth it, But these reminders are necessary. It’s easy to veer off path. Gently remind yourself that running away actually only keeps you exactly where you were before. It doesn’t get you further away from the pain. What gets you further away from the pain is running through... running in... but never running away. .. You have the capacity to work through it all. You are resilient. You are strong. Somewhere along the way we were told that it is more important to be loved and accepted by others, than to be loved and accepted by ourselves. Convincing us that the most important things in life were to please others (often at our own expense), or to “achieve” things like being chosen by someone. Somewhere along the way we began to believe in needing others to love us in order to determine our worth instead of practicing self-Love and compassion. .. This is not a promotion for selfishness. Too many people confuse acceptance, Love, and compassion for yourself as such. This is a message to encourage the practice of always being able to return to your self... to return home. .. People and society will send message after message trying to convince you to abandon yourself in order to be accepted by others. They’ll tell you that it’s important to look a certain way, to be married by a certain age, they’ll tell you who to love, how much money to make, what a “real” man does, what a woman’s role is, Etc. People will spend countless hours trying to convince you of anything that will lead you astray. And when we fall victim to that space we often come to believe that our worlds are crashing down when we do not achieve those outcomes. .. Your world is not ending. When you stay present, when you learn how to return home... when you do not let others dictate your worth... when you do not become more concerned with meeting outcomes... when you begin to do those things, you begin to honor yourself. ..
